Debt Awareness Week 2025: Breaking the stigma
Table of contents
This year, Debt Awareness Week is supporting those facing debt to act and improve their financial wellbeing.
The awareness week, which runs from March 24th to March 30th, was created to challenge the stigma surrounding debt and to encourage open conversations about financial struggles.
Millions of people in the UK and beyond face the challenges of debt every day, but they often struggle to reach out for help because they feel embarrassed or don’t know where to start or who to contact.
Why is raising debt awareness so important?
Debt can impact anyone, regardless of age, income level, or background.
It’s not just a financial issue; it’s a mental and emotional one as well.
Persistent debt can lead to stress, anxiety, and even depression, creating a cycle that can feel impossible to break.
By raising awareness, we can:
- Reduce the stigma surrounding debt and encourage people to seek help.
- Promote financial education to help individuals make informed decisions.
- Connect people with the right resources and support services.
